Description
The Santa Ana Overdrive V2 is a JFET-based class-A drive pedal running at 18V internally, engineered to replicate the touch sensitivity and high-headroom response of a Fender tube amplifier pushed into natural breakup. The dual-voice drive circuit features Drive and Tone controls alongside a Voice switch that toggles between tight, natural overdrive in position A and smooth, thick lead tones in position B. A rear-mounted Tight switch removes pre-drive bass frequencies for increased focus and definition across both voices.
An independently switchable 3-band active EQ circuit runs alongside the drive engine, with Bass, Middle, and Treble controls offering cut and boost with centre detents marking flat response. The EQ Placement switch determines whether the equaliser sits before or after the drive stage: pre-drive placement shapes which frequencies the circuit clips most aggressively, while post-drive positioning applies tonal shaping to the already-gained signal for more dramatic EQ effect. Multiswitch-enabled footswitches allow both momentary and latching activation modes.
Buffered and true bypass modes are selectable via internal switch, allowing the pedal to integrate with different signal chain configurations. The combination of high-voltage JFET topology, independent frequency sculpting, and flexible switching architecture provides broad tonal range across rhythm and lead applications. Each control offers wide adjustment without requiring external gain staging or additional equalisation in most rigs.
