WOW. Sometimes you can pick up a guitar, give it a quick strum and say “yep, this one’s got it”. While we cannot clarify exactly what “it” is, this gorgeous Deluxe Standard Strat undoubtedly has it!
Most of us are familiar with the USA Standard and USA Deluxe series, but you’d be forgiven for not having heard of the “Deluxe Standard” models. These sought-after guitars were only in production for a few months, commencing in late-1989 and ceasing prior to mid-1990. The production count has not been published, but it is speculated that there are around 400 in existence, so this instrument is in rare company.
Notable features include a super slim maple neck, Lace Sensor pickups and the TBX tone control; the electronic harness is factory standard for this model! Combined with the alder body, maple fingerboard, Fender sealed tuning machines and 2-point trem with cast saddles, this Strat is simply dripping with vibe. Other specifics to mention are micro-tilt neck adjustment, CBS era logo and Schaller locking strap pins.
This piece is in “used” condition, but has certainly not been abused. Both the neck and body show signs of play wear, while the plastic parts have aged pleasingly. Frets have a fair amount of life remaining - maybe 60%. Truss rod also functions well.
